Italian Navy frigate “Alpino” in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea

The Italian Navy frigate “Alpino” (F594), a FREMM class units, is conducting patrolling operations in the Eastern Mediterranean, for presence and surveillance activities, in compliance with International Law and to safeguard Italian national interests. Within this framework, the Alpino has conducted a joint military exercise (SAREX) with the Cypriot, French and Greek Navy.

The presence of the Alpino in the eastern Mediterranean Sea is part of the “naval diplomacy” activities carried out by the Italian Navy in the context of international cooperation and dialogue with the countries of the area, with which Italy has important political, diplomatic, economic and cultural relations.
