International aids for Greece against wildfires

Share

The wildfire situation near Athens is extremely serious, and Greece has requested international assistance.

Italy has sent two Canadair CL-415 aircraft (registration I-DPCG and I-DPCV), which arrived this morning from Rome Ciampino at the Eleusis Air Base near the Greek capital.

Also arriving in Greece this morning, sent by France, was an Airbus Helicopter H215 (registration HB-ZIP).

Turkey has also dispatched two Air Tractor AT-802A aircraft and a helicopter to help combat the fires that have broken out in Attica.

If the situation does not improve, it is likely that additional firefighting resources will be sent through the European Union’s solidarity mechanism.
