Yesterday, intense aerial surveillance activity took place in the Baltic area, with a particular focus on SIGINT (Signal Intelligence) operations conducted by NATO assets.

One of the key aircraft involved in these missions was an USAF Northrop Grumman RQ-4B Global Hawk (reg. 10-2045 – c/s FORTE13), which is currently returning to NAS Sigonella.

SIGINT aircraft like the Northrop Grumman RQ-4B Global Hawk are equipped with sophisticated technologies for intercepting and analyzing electronic signals. These assets are capable of gathering information on radio communications, radar movements, and other electromagnetic emissions, enabling a clear understanding of enemy military activities and contributing to the development of a more detailed and up-to-date intelligence picture.

The Global Hawk, with its high operational altitude and ability to cover vast areas for extended periods, is ideal for this type of mission. In combination with other specialized aircraft and satellites, it allows for real-time monitoring of ongoing field changes.
