The Italian CSG left Singapore

The deployment of the Italian aircraft carrier Cavour to the Far East and Australia is coming to an end.

The Carrier Strike Group (CSG) of the Italian Navy’s aircraft carrier Cavour has left Singapore after an extensive mission that included several strategic stops across the Indo-Pacific. The group initially departed from Yokohama, Japan, and made a stop in Jakarta, Indonesia, before continuing its journey towards Italy.

The CSG is composed by:

1. Cavour (C 550) – Aircraft carrier of the Italian Navy, the core of the strike group, capable of supporting large-scale air and naval operations.
2. Alpino (F 594) – Frigate of the Italian Navy, responsible for protecting the group with its anti-air and anti-submarine capabilities.
3. Montecuccoli (P 432) – Patrol vessel of the Italian Navy, tasked with surveillance and close-range protection duties.
4. Bretagne (D655) – Frigate of the French Navy, participating in the mission as a symbol of the international cooperation between Italy and France in naval operations.

After departing from Yokohama, the CSG made a stop in Jakarta, strengthening ties with Indonesia, and then proceeded to Singapore, a strategic crossroads for trade and naval operations. The group is now navigating across the Indian Ocean, headed toward the Mediterranean and finally Italy.

An interesting aspect of this mission involves the PPA Montecuccoli, which, after the CSG left Jakarta, temporarily separated from the group to make a diplomatic visit to the port of Laem Chabang in Thailand. This visit further strengthens the relationship between the Italian Navy and the Royal Thai Navy, expanding international cooperation in maritime security.
