Italian CAEW Patrols Lithuanian Skies

This morning we’re tracking an Italian Air Force Gulfstream E.550 CAEW (reg. MM62293- c/s PERSEO71), engaged in a surveillance mission in Lithuanian airspace, near the Belarusian border. This aircraft was seen patrolling strategic areas, with flight paths over Lithuania, close to the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad.

The Gulfstream E.550 CAEW (Conformal Airborne Early Warning) is equipped with advanced radar and electronic surveillance systems for monitoring both aerial and ground activities, crucial for air defense missions and battlefield management.

Its early warning system allows the detection and identification of potential threats with a wide radar coverage. This aircraft is frequently employed in NATO air patrol missions to enhance the security of the alliance’s eastern borders in response to growing geopolitical tensions in the Baltic region, especially near Russia and Belarus​.
