Yesterday, the Italian Coast Guard was involved in a complex operation following a fire that broke out on the Rospomare B oil platform, located approximately 10 nautical miles off the coast of Vasto in the Adriatic Sea. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and there were no signs of marine pollution.
The operation, coordinated by the Coast Guard’s National Maritime Rescue Coordination Center, immediately mobilized air and naval resources alongside specialized equipment to address the emergency.
On-site, the patrol boat CP878 from the Termoli Coast Guard arrived with firefighters on board to assist in extinguishing the fire, while the patrol boat CP538 from the Vasto Coast Guard also joined the operation.
In the air, the Coast Guard’s ATR 42MP (reg. MM 62270 c/s MANTA03) and a AW139CP (reg. MM81910) conducted environmental monitoring activities over the operational area.
