Eyes on Murmansk region

On the day Moscow claims to have thwarted a Ukrainian drone attack in the Murmansk region, we record a dual mission carried out by NATO assets in the area.

An RNAF Boeing P-8A (reg. 9586), which took off from Narvik, Norway, operated in international airspace off the Russian city, home to several Russian naval bases that host, among other assets, some of the Russian fleet’s nuclear ballistic missile submarines.

A surveillance mission was also conducted by an RAF Boeing RC-135W (reg. ZZ666), which departed directly from RAF Waddington and operated along the Finland-Russia border, also monitoring the Murmansk area.
