On January 28, the joint operation “Air Bridge for Gaza” officially commenced with the departure of two NH90 helicopters from the Italian Army Aviation from the “King Abdullah II” airbase in Zarqa. This initiative, a result of cooperation between the Italian and Jordanian Armed Forces, represents a further step in projecting operational and logistical capabilities in support of humanitarian operations.

The Italian Joint Operations Command (COVI) is responsible for coordinating activities at the national level, ensuring the effectiveness of the Italian joint task force. The contingent deployed in Jordan, designated Task Force “Levante,” includes aerial assets from the Italian Air Force and the Italian Army, specifically an Italian Air Force C-130J transport aircraft and two Italian Army NH90 helicopters, suited for operations in hostile environments and humanitarian crisis scenarios.
