A CAEW aircraft, which took off from Trapani, is currently orbiting over the Tyrrhenian Sea. The Trapani base is hosting the Typhoon Flag 2025 exercise these days.
In fact, from yesterday, Monday, February 3, until Friday, February 14, the 37th Wing at Trapani-Birgi will conduct the “Typhoon Flag 25” air exercise, the main annual training event that brings together the Italian Air Force units operating the Eurofighter jet.
The exercise will involve eight Eurofighter F-2000 aircraft and personnel from the four Wings responsible for national air defense (Grosseto, Gioia del Colle, Trapani, and Istrana Treviso). It will also be supported by fifth-generation aircraft and crews from the 6th and 32nd Wings, as well as assets from the 14th Wing, to conduct complex aerial missions.
Flight activities will take place mainly in the airspace over Sardinia and Sicily, from Monday to Friday, and may extend into the late afternoon (you can see the map on the Desk Aeronautico website).
