The first former French Mirage delivered to Ukraine

On June 6, President Emmanuel Macron announced that France would transfer Dassault Mirage 2000-5 fighter jets to Ukraine and train Ukrainian pilots as part of military cooperation with Kyiv.

At least six Mirage 2000-5 jets (out of the 26 in the French Air Force’s fleet) were expected to be delivered, according to a budget report published by the lower house of France’s National Assembly.

Ukrainian pilots and mechanics have been trained in eastern France to operate the jets, which have been modified to counter Russian jamming systems.

Today, the French Defense Minister confirmed that the first Mirage jets have arrived in Ukraine and are already operational.

In August, Ukraine received its first batch of U.S.-made F-16 fighter jets.
