Intense activity for Sigonella’s drones

A USNavy Northrop Grumman MQ-4C (reg. 169661 – c/s BLACKCAT5) is returning to Sigonella after operating off the entire Libyan coast, from east to west. The Triton remained in international airspace but just outside Libyan airspace. The drone carried out multiple orbits off the coast of Misrata and Tripoli. It is unclear whether it did the same off the coast of Cyrenaica, as the signal in that area is much more fragmented.

Also returning to Sigonella is a USAF Northrop Grumman RQ-4B (reg. 11-2046 – c/s FORTE10), which conducted a roughly 24-hour mission focused on Serbia. As observed in recent days, SIGINT aerial activity near Serbia has significantly increased, with a nearly continuous presence of U.S. assets in the area. In fact, a new Global Hawk (reg. 10-2045 – c/s FORTE11) has departed from Sicily, likely to continue surveillance over Serbia while orbiting in Bulgarian airspace.
