There has been a lot of activity today in the Black Sea theater, like we haven’t recorded in some time.
A series of NATO assets were involved in missions aimed at highlighting the importance of this area for the Alliance.
The most significant was a French operation conducted by an Airbus A330MRTT (reg. F-UJCG) and (at least) a pair of Mirage 2000Ds (c/s CARNAC11 & TIGER10) that ventured as far as southern Crimea.
Providing support was an Italian Air Force Gulfstream E.550 AEW (reg. MM62293), which, during the French fighter mission, monitored the airspace over eastern Romania.
In the same area, a US Navy Boeing P-8A also orbited, carrying out a SIGINT mission, a task also performed by a US Army Bombardier 650 ARTEMIS (reg. N488CR), which flew over the border between Romania, Moldova, and Ukraine.
