For years, we hadn’t tracked US manned assets over the Black Sea. Within a few weeks, we first tracked an RC-135W twice, and today, a USN Boeing P-8A took off from NAS Sigonella and, instead of operating in its usual area (over the Danube Delta), where American Poseidons have been operating practically since the beginning of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, it pushed much further east over the Black Sea, orbiting—albeit at a “safe” distance—south of Crimea.
The ambiguous American behavior continues: on the one hand, they (verbally) threaten to withdraw support for Ukraine, including intelligence assistance, while on the other hand, they are increasing SIGINT flights over the Black Sea.
