We are tracking an unusual presence over the central Mediterranean. A Turkish Air Force Boeing E-7T, which took off from Konya AB, is currently orbiting east of Malta over the central Mediterranean.
This is not the first time such an event has occurred; although rare, Turkish AWACS have previously conducted missions in the area, usually related to Libya. However, in this case, the operation is taking place further north, and it is possible that it is connected to the NATO exercise Dynamic Manta 2025.
This theory is further supported by the fact that the aircraft entered Greek FIR during its route—something that Turkish military aircraft usually avoid when operating independently.
