This afternoon, two French Air Force Rafale B jets are heading east over the central Black Sea, outside Turkish FIR and in international airspace. No other assets have been tracked in the area.
It is worth noting that the Rafale, thanks to the SPECTRA system, can conduct reconnaissance missions without the need for an external pod. The SPECTRA system has SIGINT (Signals Intelligence) capabilities, allowing it to collect and analyze electromagnetic signals.
With its advanced sensors, SPECTRA can:
- Detect, classify, and geolocate enemy radar and radio emissions.
- Analyze emission patterns to identify threats and create an electronic battlefield map.
- Store and update a signal database to enhance recognition and automatic threat response.
This capability allows the Rafale to operate with greater situational awareness and, in some cases, to carry out electronic reconnaissance missions in addition to active protection.
