This afternoon we’rea surveillance mission conducted by an Italian Air Force CAEW in the Black Sea theatre.
The aircraft, a Gulfstream E.550 CAEW (Conformal Airborne Early Warning), identified with registration code MM62303) and callsign PERSE070, took off from Pratica di Mare AB and is orbiting along the Romanian coast near the Danube Delta.
The CAEW (Conformal Airborne Early Warning) aircraft is an advanced airborne surveillance platform designed for early warning, air defense, and intelligence-gathering operations. Equipped with cutting-edge radar and electronic systems, it provides 360-degree situational awareness, real-time threat detection, and battlefield management capabilities.
Its conformal design enhances aerodynamics and reduces drag, allowing for extended mission durations and improved efficiency. The CAEW is a critical asset for modern air forces, supporting command and control, as well as enhancing operational readiness and decision-making
