On the afternoon of Tuesday, May 6, 2025, a jet from the Italian Air Force’s Frecce Tricolori aerobatic team was involved in a serious accident shortly after a training at Pantelleria Airport.

Initial reports suggest that three aircraft may have made contact in flight. One of the jets, identified as “Pony 8,” veered off the runway during landing, resulting in injuries to the pilot.

The jet reportedly lost control upon landing and exited the runway, causing significant damage to the aircraft.

Emergency services responded promptly, and the pilot was transported to a nearby medical facility. Although the extent of the pilot’s injuries has not been officially disclosed, they are believed not to be life-threatening.
