After a brief stop in Souda Bay, Crete, the British Carrier Strike Group (CSG) has today transited the Suez Canal, officially leaving the Mediterranean and heading towards the Indo-Pacific region.

Led by the Royal Navy’s flagship aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales (R09), the group includes the Type 45 destroyer HMS Dauntless (D33), the Type 23 frigate HMS Richmond (F239), and an Astute-class nuclear-powered attack submarine.

The UK-led CSG is also reinforced by allied warships, including the Royal Canadian Navy’s HMCS Ville de Québec and the Royal Norwegian Navy’s HNoMS Roald Amundsen, demonstrating a high level of NATO and partner nation interoperability.

From now until December, the Carrier Strike Group will participate in a wide range of exercises and operations across the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and the Indo-Pacific. Joint drills are planned with the armed forces of a dozen partner nations, including Japan and Australia, as part of London’s broader strategic focus on the Indo-Pacific and global maritime security.
