For NATO, Iran is no longer considered a threat.

Two NATO Boeing E-3A/B Sentry aircraft (reg. LX-N90448 & LX-N90443) are currently flying from Konya Air Base in Turkey back to their home base in Geilenkirchen, Germany. The two AWACS had been deployed to Turkey in mid-June, at the onset of Tehran’s missile raids on Israel.

Since their arrival, a NATO Sentry has flown nightly surveillance missions along the Turkey-Iraq-Iran border, monitoring regional airspace and providing early warning in case of potential missile launches toward Turkish territory.

The redeployment suggests that NATO now considers the ceasefire to be stable and lasting, deeming the forward positioning of both AWACS no longer necessary. At least one NATO Sentry, however, will remain detached in Turkey as part of regular operations.
