Since yesterday, a vessel identified with the callsign “H” has been trackable near Crete, reportedly described as a coast guard unit en route to Livorno, Italy.
In reality, it is neither a coast guard vessel nor is it headed to Livorno. Unsurprisingly, its name is not “H” either.
The vessel is actually the Russian Navy corvette Boikiy, which is escorting the cargo ship Sparta and the tanker General Skobelev, both of which departed from Syria and are heading to Russia.
Interestingly, yesterday the Boikiy was observed maneuvering back and forth southeast of Crete in what appeared to be an underway replenishment operation.
The Russian flotilla now seems to have resumed its westward journey at a speed of approximately 10 knots. Since the corvette became trackable, the other two vessels—previously visible on tracking systems—are no longer being detected.
