This morning, at around 13:20 CEST, an Italian Air Force Beechcraft B.350ER SPYDR (reg. MM62300) took off southbound from Decimomannu Air Base in Sardinia. Just a few minutes later, at 13:26, the aircraft switched off its ADS-B transponder, disappearing from public tracking sites.
The SPYDR reappeared three hours later, at 16:34, south of Sardinia, before heading north to land at Pratica di Mare Air Base, south of Rome.
Although its exact area of operation remains unknown, it is likely that the mission took place over the western Mediterranean, possibly off the Algerian coast.
The Beechcraft B.350ER SPYDR is a state-of-the-art ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance) platform, equipped with advanced SIGINT and ELINT sensors. It is designed to intercept communications, collect electronic intelligence, and provide real-time situational awareness to support both national security and NATO operations.
