After spending several days anchored off Palma de Mallorca, the USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78)—the U.S. Navy’s newest and most advanced aircraft carrier—has now left the Balearic area and is sailing east across the Tyrrhenian Sea.

According to flight tracking data, a Grumman C-2A Greyhound (registration 162162, callsign RG03) has been conducting COD (Carrier Onboard Delivery) missions between NAS Sigonella and the carrier, confirming its ongoing movement and operational status.

The Ford’s presence in the central Mediterranean suggests that the carrier strike group is repositioning after its rest period off the Spanish coast. It remains unclear whether the group will proceed toward the central or eastern Mediterranean in the coming days.

Commissioned in 2017, the USS Gerald R. Ford is the lead ship of her class and represents the most technologically advanced carrier ever built for the U.S. Navy.
