An Israeli Air Force Gulfstream G550 Nachshon Oron (reg. 452) has taken off from Nevatim Air Base and is currently orbiting off the coast of Israel in the eastern Mediterranean, operating specifically near the Gaza Strip.
The Nachshon Oron is a sophisticated, multi-sensor Wide-Area Persistent Surveillance (WAPS) aircraft. Built on the Gulfstream G550 platform, this advanced jet is essentially an airborne intelligence hub, combining the capabilities of airborne early warning and signals intelligence into a single platform. It is equipped with a state-of-the-art suite of sensors—including an AESA radar and comprehensive electro-optical and SIGINT systems—allowing it to conduct real-time surveillance, tracking, and data fusion over large terrestrial and maritime areas, regardless of weather conditions. The aircraft is a critical asset of the IAF’s 122nd “Nachshon” Squadron.
