The Italian Carrier Strike Group has departed the naval base of Taranto to take part in Neptune Strike 25-4, a NATO-led Vigilance Activity designed to enhance readiness, deterrence, and cohesion across the maritime domain.

The group is centered around the aircraft carrier Cavour and its embarked air component, which will operate in close coordination with the Royal Navy’s Carrier Strike Group. This joint deployment aims to further strengthen interoperability between allied navies at a time when the Alliance continues to maintain a robust posture across its southern and eastern flanks.

Neptune Strike activities routinely bring together maritime, air, and joint assets from multiple NATO nations, ensuring that carrier strike groups can operate seamlessly in complex and dynamic scenarios. The involvement of both Italian and British carrier groups adds significant weight to the exercise, showcasing the Alliance’s capacity to project power and maintain persistent vigilance in strategic areas of interest.
Over the coming days, the Cavour and its escorts are expected to integrate into a wider NATO framework, conducting a series of coordinated operations and joint training events with Allied units deployed across the Mediterranean.
