After yesterday’s long-range refuelling activity over Iraq, an Italian Air Force KC-767A (MM62228) has carried out a new mission over the Middle East today, once again using the callsign GOSSIP12.
Unlike the previous sortie, today’s mission was focused exclusively inside Syrian airspace, where the aircraft flew an extended holding pattern in the central part of the country. The track suggests an AAR task in support of coalition or national assets operating in the region.
The tanker departed from Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait, followed a northwest route into Syria, completed its refuelling activity, and then returned along the same corridor.
Italy continues to provide aerial refuelling support as part of its longstanding commitment to regional stability and counter-ISIS operations.
