A United States Army Bombardier ARTEMIS aircraft (registration N159L, callsign BRIO66) carried out a long-range intelligence-gathering mission today, reaching the Baltic region after departing from Romania.
After crossing Central Europe, the aircraft positioned itself over the international airspace surrounding the Kaliningrad exclave, where it performed an extended surveillance pattern. The holding track flown over the southeastern Baltic Sea shows a clear focus on monitoring Russian military activity in and around the enclave, a recurring hotspot for NATO intelligence operations.
ARTEMIS platforms are specifically tasked with signals intelligence collection, making them valuable assets for building situational awareness along NATO’s eastern flank. The mission observed today fits into the steady flow of US and allied reconnaissance flights regularly monitoring the Baltic region amid ongoing tensions with Moscow.
Once the series of orbits over Kaliningrad was completed, BRIO66 began its return route southbound.
