Eleven of twelve USAF F-15E Strike Eagles assigned to the “MO” group of Coronet East 044 are now airborne from RAF Lakenheath and heading toward CENTCOM, marking a significant reinforcement of US airpower in the Middle East. The deployment, supported by KC-135R and KC-46A tankers from both the UK and Germany, comes amid heightened regional tensions in recent days. One F-15E was forced to return shortly after takeoff due to a landing gear malfunction, slightly reducing the package’s strength but not its strategic weight.

The movement involves two distinct cells, each supported by dedicated aerial refueling assets.

In Cell 1, KC-135R GOLD76 (63-8873) and KC-46A GOLD77 (21-46095) are escorting six F-15Es under the TABOR11 callsign sequence (TABOR11 through TABOR16) departing from RAF Lakenheath. In Cell 2, KC-135R GOLD86 (61-0324) and KC-46A GOLD87 (22-46100) are supporting five F-15Es under the TABOR21 sequence (TABOR21 through TABOR26). One aircraft from the second cell returned to base following reports of landing gear failing to retract after takeoff.

The structure of the deployment is operationally significant. Each fighter cell is paired with both a KC-135R and a KC-46A, providing redundancy and flexibility across the long transit toward the Middle East. The mix of legacy and next-generation tankers reflects the USAF’s effort to validate layered refueling architectures under real-world operational pressure.

Coronet missions are routine in form but strategic in substance. They enable rapid transatlantic reinforcement of forward theaters, and today’s movement underscores how quickly the US can reposition high-end strike assets from Europe to CENTCOM’s area of responsibility. The fact that 11 aircraft launched within a narrow time window suggests a coordinated push rather than a staggered rotation.

Strategically, the arrival of additional F-15Es in the Middle East strengthens deep-strike, interdiction, and air superiority options at a time when force posture signaling matters as much as kinetic capability. The F-15E remains one of the USAF’s most versatile platforms, capable of carrying substantial payloads over long distances while operating in contested airspace. Reinforcing CENTCOM with dual cells increases sortie generation potential and complicates adversary planning cycles.
