USAF Coronet East Redeployment Continues as Another A-10 Flight Heads Back to CENTCOM

The USAF Coronet East redeployment continued today with another group of A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft departing Europe for the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility. According to available information, this brings the number of returning aircraft to eight out of the ten deployed during the recent reinforcement.

The formation was supported by Boeing KC-135R Stratotanker 61-0308 (registration 61-0308), operating with the callsign CLEAN 82. According to open-source tracking, CLEAN 82 was escorting a flight of three A-10s from the 41st Fighter Squadron during their transit from RAF Lakenheath toward CENTCOM.

Multiple Tankers Active Across Europe

Today’s tracking also showed three additional USAF KC-135Rs operating across southern Europe and the Mediterranean:

While these aircraft were active in the same general timeframe and along routes consistent with long-range support operations, it is not currently possible to determine which receivers they were supporting. They may have been involved in the broader Coronet East redeployment or in unrelated USAF movements, but no direct link with the returning A-10 formation can be confirmed from publicly available data.

This underlines one of the limitations of flight tracking: tanker activity can often be observed, while the tactical aircraft receiving fuel remain invisible because they do not transmit ADS-B data.

Whether the remaining two A-10s will depart in a final wave over the coming days remains to be seen, but today’s mission confirms that the Coronet East drawdown is continuing.
