Romanian Air Force resumes MiG-21 flying operations

After a stop of a month the Romanian Air Force has resumed flying operations with the MiG-21 LanceR starting on Monday for a period of almost a year.

The stop had been decided after an accident that led to the loss of a MiG-21 and the death of its pilot, last in a series of incidents

In a year’s time, therefore, the Romanian Mig-21s will be phased out and the country’s air defence will be entrusted to F-16s (Romania recently bought 32 second-hand F-16s from Norway).
