Last night around 22:30 CEST, a USAF Northrop Grumman RQ-4B (reg. 11-2046 – callsign FORTE10) departed NAS Sigonella to carry out a new surveillance mission over the Black Sea.

At 04:44 hrs when the drone was over central Greece it turned around and headed back towards Sicily.

It then performed a series of orbits on the border between the Greek and Italian FIRs before arriving near Sicily to prepare for landing. (Currently, at 10:45 CEST, the drone is orbiting off Syracuse.

It is possible that due to a technical problem the aircraft had to abort its mission.
