An Italian Air Force Gulfstream G.550 CAEW ( MM62293 ) is making a mission over northern Italy.
Departed from Rome Ciampino, after circling between Ancona and Forlì, the aircraft is now descending to Turin.
In July 2012 the Government of Italy signed a contract with IAI for two G550 CAEW aircraft for operation by the Italian Air Force (AMI).

The N849GA registration was reserved in December 2012. The aircraft (G550, c/n 5429) was built in 2013 and registered to Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. in May of that year. On 29/30 September 2015 the G550 was ferried from Savannah (GA) to Shannon and on to Tel Aviv, Israel. It has a heavily-modified fuselage, small Italian roundels on the engines, Aeronautica Militare titles and code 14-11. The aircraft was noted test-flying wearing taped-on Israeli military serial 429 at Tel Aviv 18 February 2016. MM62293/14-11 returned on 19-12-2016 to the Italian AF, after the mission equipment was installed in Israel.
On the 29th of June 2017, 14-11 arrived at Geilenkirchen NATO Air Base for the 35 years anniversary celebrations. The aircraft was shown to the public in the static display on 1 and 2 July.

The second AMI G550 CAEW 5454 (N554GA) was noted at Savannah (GA) as MM62294/14-12 on 27-04-2016 and in May 2016 in all grey c/s with Italian Air Force titles. It was ferried from Savannah (GA) to Shannon and on to Tel Aviv 28/29 June 2016 for interior fit. N554GA registration was cancelled on 29 June.
