A year ago, on 20 november 2019, LNA Western Military Zone’s Commander Maj-Gen Mabrouk Al-Ghazawi confirmed that a “Turkish” UAV was shot down by air defenses in the north of Tarhouna city

But in these photos that circulated into the web we saw a wings with Italian Air Force. Really the drone crashed bear tarhouna wasn’t a Turkish drone but an Italian Air Force General Atomics MQ-9A Predator B.

“The eastern-based Libyan National Army, led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, has downed an Italian unmanned aerial vehicles in the west of the country“, Ahmed Mismari, the LNA spokesman, said.

Italian Ministry of Defence said that “During a surveillance mission made for “Mare Sicuro” operation the contact with the drone was lost and the drone crashed, without control, near Tarhuma. ”

A year later we still don’t know if the Predator was shot down or if it crashed due to a technical malfunction and we don’t even know if the drone wrecks were ever recovered from Italy.
