PASSEX exercise in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea

Cyprus, France, Greece, and Italy carried out a small-scale exercise at sea (PASSEX), yesterday in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea, south of Cyprus.

They are committed to support freedom of navigation in international waters and monitor any deviances of the respect of international maritime law.

The four nations deployed French Navy Frigate Aconit (F713) and her organic helicopter PANTHER, Italian Navy carrier Garibaldi (C 551), Hellenic Navy frigate Hydra (F-452), Cypriot OPV Ioannides (P 61) and a Cypriot Army AW-139 helicopter in the region South of Cyprus. 

Led in the framework of the Quadripartite Initiative (QUAD) this exercise is another step towards an increased interoperability.
