A formation of 2 USAF Boeing B-52Hs left RAF Fairford base tonight heading south.
One of them (reg. 61-0039, c/s CHIEF11) is carrying out a mission over the Mediterranean and the Persian Gulf.
In these minutes (09:15 CET) the B-52 is leaving the Mediterranean heading south over Egypt.
What is interesting (and unusual) is that while over the eastern Mediterranean, the B-52H made a diversion to the north and came within 100km of the Russian bases in Syria at Tartus and Latakia AB.
