Last week the Italian Navy’s light aircraft carrier ‘Garibaldi’ (C551) left Taranto.

Yesterday the ship passed through the Strait of Gibraltar, leaving the Mediterranean Sea and entering the Atlantic Ocean.

The ship will take part in the NATO Cold Reponse exercise during which it will play the role of Commander Amphibious Task Force Commander Landing Force.

Cold Response is a Norwegian-led winter exercise taking place every other year with NATO allied and partner countries involved. This year’s large-scale edition will take place late March and early April. A total of 23 NATO countries, out of 30 members in total, have confirmed their participation. As have the partner countries Finland and Sweden
