Italian SPYDR at work

This morning we tracked an Italian Air Force Beech B.350 SPYDR (reg. MM62300) landing around 11:00 CEST in Paphos, Cyprus. The SYPDR can carry out both SIGINT/COMINT (Signal/Communication Intelligence) and ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance) missions.

The aircraft has performed a surveillance mission over the Eastern Mediterranean, probably between the island of Cyprus and Syria/Lebanon. During the flight the aircraft switched off the ADB-S transponder so it is not possible to know exactly in which area the Beech operated.

In the sea area east of Cyprus several Russian Navy vessels are reported.
