The USS Truman (CVN-75) left the Mediterranean. Yesterday morning the US aircraft carrier and its Combat Strike Group sailed westward through the Strait of Gibraltar en route to Norfolk.
The Truman had entered the Mediterranean on 14 December and extended its stay due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
During these eight months, despite a few setbacks (the loss of a Super Hornet at sea) the US aircraft carrier operated in the central and eastern Mediterranean, supporting NATO operations on the eastern flank.
To date, therefore, the USS George W. Bush (CVN-77) and its Combat Strike Group remain in the Mediterranean.
