On 30 october morning Italian air Force received a new Gulfstream G.550. The aircraft (reg. MM62332) has landed at 06:49 CEST in Pratica di Mare AB after a 9 hours flight from Dallas USA.
The aircraft has not already received the necessary modifications for its transformation into a CAEW but it has painted in new military colours.
The U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) approved a possible foreign military sale to the Italian government of two Gulfstream G550 CAEW on December 15, 2020.
In 2012, Italian Air Force had already acquired two G550 CAEWs and ordered two new AISREW (Airborne Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance, and Electronic Warfare) and six “green” airframes that can be converted to JAMMS or CAEW configurations.
The aircraft that arrived this morning in Italy was delivered to a private customer ( S/N 5559, reg. N1777U) in 2017
