Italian Spartan in Rzeszów

Interesting flight this morning of an Italian Air Force Leonardo C-27J “Spartan” (reg. MM62223) which took off from Pisa San Giusto AB and landed in Rzeszów in Poland.

The aircraft landed at the Polish airport after a flight that avoided Hungarian airspace, suggesting that it was carrying military material for Ukraine (Hungary, despite being a NATO country, does not in fact allow aircraft carrying military aid to Kiev to fly over its territory).

The strange thing is that at the moment there are no official reports of new arms being sent from Italy. This could therefore be a shipment that refers to an old ‘order’.

We will check over the next few days to see if this is an isolated dispatch or others will follow.
