NATO eyes on the (western) Black Sea

Another busy day in the Black Sea theatre. At least three NATO assets are at work this morning:

  • an Italian Air Force Gulfstream E.550 CAEW (reg. MM62303 – callsign PERSEO71) departed from Constanta and orbiting the eastern part of Romania;
  • approximately in the same area where a USN Lockkheed EP-3E (reg. 159887), departed from Souda Bay AB;
  • departed from NAS Sigonella, an USAF Northrop Grumman RQ-4B (reg. 11-2046 – c/s FORTE11)  is orbiting over eastern Romania.

Since the Reaper shot down by a Russian Air Force Sukhoi Su-27, we have tracked only one flight over the Black Sea by a USAF Global Hawk
