Today, an Italian Air Force Boeing KC-767A (reg. MM62226), took off from Pratica di Mare AB today at 13:45 CEST with destination Niamey, Niger.

The aircraft is returned to Italy on Wednesday night, landing at 05:15 CEST in Rome Ciampino.

The flight is likely connected to the recent events in Niger, with the coup d’état last week, possibly fueled by Moscow, making it dangerous for European citizens to stay in the country.

As of now, there are no official statements from the Italian Ministry of Defense regarding the situation.
