Radio failure for MAGMA

Last night, a NATO Northrop Grumman RQ-4D (reg. MM-AV-SA0018 – c/s MAGMA10) took off from Sigonella AB towards the Black Sea.

However, when the drone reached eastern Bulgaria, it squawked 7600, an emergency code indicating radio communication issues. At that point, the drone (likely automatically) headed back towards its departure base.

Around 04:00 CEST, while over the Ionian Sea, communications were restored, and MAGMA resumed its flight towards the Black Sea.
