For a few weeks, various tracking sites indicated a P-8A operating from Souda Bay AB conducting missions over the Black Sea or off the coast of Libya. It turned out to be a database error because it was actually the usual USN Lockheed EP-3E.
However, today we witnessed something unusual. First, a Boeing P-8A flew from Sigonella to Souda, and then the same Poseidon took off again to perform a mission over the Black Sea.
The same scenario repeated shortly after with another P-8A. Today, missions over the Black Sea were conducted by Poseidons deployed to Crete.

We don’t know why, but we’ll keep an eye on the situation to understand if it’s a single episode or if it will happen again in the coming days.
