Italian wings over Alaska

Even though officially the Red Flag exercise in Alaska will begin the day after tomorrow, yesterday we tracked Italian assets already airborne in the region, probably to familiarize themselves with the area.

Around 23:00 to 03:00 CEST last night, both the Gulfstream E.550 CAEW (reg. MM62293) and the only remaining Boeing KC-767A (reg. MM62226) were airborne (the other 3 have returned to Italy in recent days).

It’s worth noting that the Italian Air Force is participating in the exercise with 6 Typhoons and 6 F-35As (details here).
