Triton exploring the Black Sea

Until today, we had seen a division of mission areas between the USAF Global Hawk drones and the US Navy Tritons. The former operated over the Black Sea, while the latter operated over the Mediterranean.

However, during a brief mission of approximately 7 hours, ending around 09:00 CEST, a Northrop Grumman MQ-4C (reg. 169659 – c/s TRITON19) operated by the US Navy briefly operated over the Black Sea, in what appeared to be a reconnaissance mission of the area.

We will see in the coming days whether this was an exception or if we will once again see US Navy drones operating in the Black Sea area, perhaps even venturing further into its depths.
