Over the past few hours we have been tracking a large number of USAF tankers en route from the United States to Europe. At this very moment, more than 20 tankers—a mix of Boeing KC-46A and Boeing KC-135R/T aircraft—are heading across the Atlantic toward the Old Continent.
The jets are touching down at Morón Air Base and NAS Rota in Spain, as well as at Ramstein Air Base in Germany.
They departed from several U.S. bases, including Tampa, Oklahoma City, Wichita, Wrightstown, and Pittsburgh. For now, we don’t know whether they are flying alone or accompanying other USAF assets, nor can we say if this movement is linked to the Israel-Iran war, but it’s undeniable that such heavy traffic is highly unusual.
In the coming hours we’ll see whether the aircraft continue toward the Middle East or remain in Europe.
