About Italian F-35s participating in Iniochos exercise

At the end of last week, the Italian Air Force deployed six F-35s at Andravida AB to participate in Iniochos 2019 exercise.

They come from the 32nd Wing based in Amendola AB, which is the only Italian Airbase to host the fifth-gen combat aircraft .

According to Scramble Magazine “the F-35As will carry radar reflectors of the Luneburg type, which increase radar cross section (RCS) not only during the transition to and from the Andravida AB but also throughout their participation in the exercise. The radar reflector is reportedly a requirement of the US government, and it is self-evident that it aims to keep secret the performance of the fighter in a low-visibility configuration”.
