USS Truman back into Mediterranean

The USS Harry S. Truman Combat Strike Group has crossed the Atlantic and is just west of the Strait of Gibraltar, just outside the Mediterranean Sea and within the 6th Fleet area of responsibility.

The CSG will, ultimately, take the Abraham Lincoln CSG’s place in the U.S. 5th Fleet’s area of responsibility (Persian Gulf).

This deployment will be Truman‘s second in two years.

Carrier Air Wing 1 is embarked on USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75):

The Navy has not announced what escorts are accompanying the Harry S. Truman CSG as it heads east for deployment. Destroyer Squadron 28, with USS Lassen (DDG-82), USS Farragut (DDG-99), and USS Forrest Sherman (DDG-98), worked up with Truman and its air wing; however, they are already in the Persian Gulf supporting the Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group.
