With the flight of 8 March, the Italian Air Force Eurofighter aircraft of the Task Group “Typhoon”, deployed on the Al Jaber air base in Kuwait, reached 2,000 flight hours, in less than 12 months from the beginning of their mission .

The “Typhoon” Task Group operates under the IT NCC Air / TFA Kuwait (Italian National Contingent Command Air / Task Force Air), established on 17 October 2014 as part of the “Prima Parthica” national and “Inherent Resolve” multinational operations in contrast to DAESH.

The Eurofighter aircraft, in all the operational missions carried out from 26 March 2019 to today, has proven to be an extremely versatile and reliable weapon system. Thanks to the sophisticated aerodactic reconnaissance POD, Reccelite II has collected and distributed an impressive quantity of very high resolution images of the points of interest requested by the Coalition. The Task Group has perfected the tactics, techniques and procedures used, both on the ground and in flight, to plan and execute missions, analyze and disseminate the data and images collected, highlighting the Eurofighter in the Coalition area as a reconnaissance aircraft highly effective aerotactic in terms of maneuverability, time spent in the area of operations, recovery altitude and transit speed.

The goal achieved, in addition to representing an important operational contribution provided by the Air Force to the fight against DAESH, is the result of the commitment and professionalism of the women and men of the Task Group “Thypoon” and of their daily work in all environmental conditions , made possible thanks to the support of all the Armed Forces and Departments involved in the Homeland.

The mission of the TFA-K (Task Force Air-Kuwait) guarantees the synergistic and coordinated use of the risk-adjusted assets: the KC-767A aircraft, used to meet the in-flight refueling needs of the Coalition assets as the Predators and Eurofighters, employed, instead, in ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) activities, aimed at the production of high resolution images and videos. The images produced by the Air Force’s ISR structures are enhanced by the inter-force fusion cell called I2MEC (Integrated Italian Multisensor Exploitation Cell), an Italian excellence in the intelligence sector, unique in its kind.
