This morning at 10:02 CEST an Italian Air Force Gulfstream E.550 CAEW (reg. MM62303 – callsign IAM1496) left Pratica di Mare AB, near Rom, to make a surveillance mission.
Around 11:30 CEST the aircraft arrived over Black Sea.

We don’t have the track of the surveillance mission (probably the ADS-B transponder was switched off) but we the mission is lasted around 4 hours. At 15:34 CEST the airplane is reappeared over the Romanian coast.

The CAEW is is an airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) multi-band radar system developed by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI). Its primary objective is to provide intelligence to maintain air superiority and conduct surveillance.

We’ve tracked a similar mission on 30th March 2020.
